Vita
Maximilian Banning studied economics at the University of Münster which he graduated as Master of Science in 2017. At the center of his studies were econometrics and empirical economics as well as microeconomics.
Since August 2017 Maximilian Banning is working at GWS’s department of Energy and Climate. His research focuses on the economic effects of climate policy decisions and the analysis of international trade flows. The primarily model-based studies range from the socio-economic effects of renewable energies to carbon price-driven global production shifts and questions of resource consumption.
In particular, the evaluation of employment effects using input-output models is a focus of his work. In recurring projects since 2021, Mr. Banning has been responsible for analyses of global employment through the expansion and use of hydropower. He also develops national models that are used to estimate the economic effects of climate change mitigation and adaptation in Georgia, Uganda and Algeria.
