Vita

Dr. Louisa Mergner (née Grimm) studied Economics (B.Sc.) and Economics (M.Sc.) at the University of Osnabrück and gained further experience at the Université Laval in Québec. In her doctorate in International Economic Policy at the University of Osnabrück, she focussed on the analysis of optimal currency areas, business cycles and foreign exchange trading. 

Louisa Mergner has been working at GWS in the “Economic and Social Affairs” department since June 2023. Her areas of expertise include empirical analysis of industries with a focus on the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, construction, and various service sectors. In addition, she has experience in model-based economic (econometric and input-output) research and in applying Excel-based E3 and GJAM models to labor market and climate change related topics such as adaptation and mitigation in different countries, including Egypt and Nepal.
