Capacity Building Workshop on the Just Transition Assessment Model Egypt (JTAM-Egypt)
Capacity Building Workshop on the JTAM Model Egypt in Support of Development Planning and Impact Assessments of Climate and Green Economy Policies to Promote a Just Transition
The hands-on training workshop in January 2025 concluded the successful project cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation (MOPEDIC) and other local partners.
Since 2023, the partners jointly developed the Egyptian Just Transition Assessment Model (JTAM-e3.eg) to support evidence-based policy making. The Green Jobs Assessment Institutions Network (GAIN) evaluation method and the JTAM are the methodological approach for analyzing the impacts of the green economy and climate policy. By simulating policies with the JTAM-e3.eg model, economic, social, and environmental impacts with a focus on jobs and decent work were quantified and evaluated.
Participants from different fields such as decision-makers, statisticians and researchers from governments, and research institutions attended the hands-on training. The GWS consultants Anett Großmann and Frank Hohmann introduced how to use the Excel-based model to answer policy questions – from scenario design to implementation of the scenario settings in the JTAM-e3.eg model and evaluation of the scenario results.
Thanks to all who supported the model and scenario development process and all training participants for the lively discussion and interaction!
