Abstract

Macroeconomic modeling enables policymakers to be aware of how climate change directly affects key economic sectors and how it impacts other sectors along the value chains. Reducing these economic risks needs an integrated and foresightedly adaptation planning. The E3 modeling tool in combination with scenario analysis allows to discover possible future impacts of climate change and adaptation planning and thus supports the transition to a climate-resilient economy. This E3 model handbook describes the Excel-based DIOM-X model building framework and the simplified E3 prototype model for Mongolia based on an E3 model template and international datasets which can be applied to simulate the macroeconomic effects of country specific climate risks and adaptation measures.
