Climate Change and Adaptation

The central theme of this research area is climate change and its impact on the social and economic dimensions of the economy. In this context, not only the costs and losses for different branches of the economy and the sectors are estimated in terms of the gross domestic product, but also the consequences for inequality and the achievement of sustainability goals are considered. This topic area also includes questions on the possibilities and effects of adaptation measures. Complementary and reinforcing effects with climate mitigation measures are always taken into account. As a result, this topic area is also closely linked to the topic area Energy Transition and Climate Mitigation.
