Service center for industrial transformation in the regions – networking regional industrial initiatives

The Service Centre for Industrial Transformation in the Regions aims to establish forward-looking transformation communities instead of reactive transfer companies.

The pressure of climate change, digitalisation and automation is challenging German companies to transform their processes quickly, profoundly and sustainably – in an environment characterised by growing complexity, a shortage of skilled workers and increasing pressure to innovate. For this transformation to succeed, it requires not only technological solutions, but also new skills, learning cultures, cooperation and courage.

The Service Centre for Industrial Transformation in the Regions enables companies and regional industry initiatives to successfully shape change. To this end, it imparts practical knowledge and analyses, promotes regional networking and supports concrete steps in the regions.

As part of the Service Centre, GWS contributes to providing scientifically sound and data-based support for industrial transformation.

To this end, GWS is conducting an empirically based analysis and developing a robust system of indicators to support regional industrial initiatives in the industrial transformation process. This set of indicators serves to capture regional starting points more precisely, identify transformation needs and make progress measurable. In addition, scenario and forecast calculations are carried out to identify possible development paths and

options for action for the regions in a data-based and future-oriented manner. The results of this work are incorporated into the Atlas of Industrial Transformation.
