The green hydrogen transformation in Lower Saxony
In order to maintain industrial value creation and jobs in Lower Saxony, its dependence on fossil fuels must be reduced and ended in the long term. The development and establishment of a green hydrogen economy can play a successful role in this. The development of a hydrogen economy is already being pursued intensively in Lower Saxony. Possible positive economic developments with the successful establishment of a hydrogen-based industry provide important arguments for the acceptance of ecologically necessary decarbonization. This study will examine the extent of these effects, the potential negative impacts and the success factors that must be in place for the hydrogen transformation to succeed, particularly for Lower Saxony. A macroeconometric methodological approach will be applied. Based on the quantitative results, the success factors that must apply for the successful establishment of a hydrogen economy can be identified.
