Socio-economic impact assessment of adaptation measures in Nepal

As part of the Paris Agreement, countries are required to submit climate mitigation and adaptation strategies. Climate adaptation measures aim to minimize the negative impacts of climate change while maximizing potential co-benefits considering socio-economic consequences.

In this project, the e3.np model has been developed for Nepal to support the evidence-based formulation of sectoral strategies that link economic development with environmental sustainability and climate resilience. The simulation and evaluation of climate change scenarios and adaptation measures with the e3.np model enables a quantified impact assessment for single economic sectors, the macroeconomic and environmental indicators and thus shows possible synergies and trade-offs with other policy measures.  In addition, the project has strengthened local institutional and technical capacities, enabling national experts to independently use the e3.np model and better understanding the socio-economic effects of climate adaptation measures in Nepal.
