GWS at the Annual Meeting of the Austrian Economic Association (NOeG 2024) in Vienna
Maximilian Banning shared the insights of a study on the impact of the energy transition on European regions and its implications for EU cohesion at this year's NOeG annual conference in Vienna:
- Decarbonising the European energy system reduces regional disparities as it proves particularly beneficial for many lagging rural regions.
- However, the transition to renewable energy is a challenge for urbanised regions that rely on carbon-intensive industries.
The study was funded by the Bertelsmann Stiftung and can be downloaded here.
Thanks to all participants for many insightful presentations and discussions. Special thanks to the hosts and organizers for a thoroughly well executed conference.
